Hey Geno fans! SQ here with a couple things that we'd like your input on.
First off, March 9, 2012 commemorates the 16th anniversary of when "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars" was released in Japan. We missed the last anniversary and we're not quite sure what to do this time (better to plan early than rush at the last minute). Any suggestions are welcome.
This, however, may lead into a somewhat touchy subject for some, and coincidentally the next order of business. Namely contests. The first one we ever had was riddled with mistakes of first-time admins trying not to step on anybody's toes. We rushed to get results and at the same time we didn't want to make anyone upset. We failed in that last part. We don't want to end up making the same mistakes again.
We've talked and I think we've got a good idea of how to go about things. However, we would still appreciate knowing what you guys think.
Our best bet in contests is this: NN1 and I agree on 3 finalists. These 3 will be announced and we will go through the same voting system as last time with notes (since we have no poll option). The difference between this and last time is that there is no "free range gallery run" with who you pick. We didn't think of this last time because we were in a rush and indecisive between 3 great pieces of art. This way everyone gets a voice; the judging is balanced.
Last but not least, future blog updates. How would you guys feel if we did this: Every so often - maybe every other month or so, it depends - we'll post a journal if anything Geno-related, or really cool SMRPG-related, pops up (like I should have done for Kirbopher's Waltz of the Forest). If nothing particular pops up, we could compile a list of remixes. How expansive this list of remixes get (like showing more than just "Beware the Forest Mushrooms" mixes) is up to you. Want only remixes related to Geno? Want more than that? Tell us!
So what do you guys think? Trying to celebrate the anniversary of SMRPG, new contest judging guidelines, and potentially having a journal every other month or so showcasing cool remixes.
Let's get a little activity back in this group.

Super Mario RPG Anniversary!
Good day everyone! As the title says today marks the 22nd anniversary of Super Mario RPG's release!
What's your fondest memory of the game?
Smash Poll Over...
:bulletblue: News
Wow this is late. Sorry everyone!
Unfortunately Geno didn't make it into the finals of VG Tribune's contest. Skull Kid of all people won instead, but hey we tried right? This isn't the end and who knows? Maybe we'll get another chance down the road.
Until then enjoy this video of Geno hacked into Brawl. Moveset, et al. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=819flv8J8zA

From time to time we stumble across cool remixes from Super Mario RPG and will post them on the group blog to share. Unfortunately, because of the quantity of decent SMRPG music out there and the rate at which good ones are found, we'
Smash Poll II: Geno in the Semifinals! (Update)
Important Update! So it seems some joker(s) tried to sabotage the polls. The polls were taken down and set back up, but they've been reset. You'll have to vote again if you did before July 16th at 3:00PM or 4:00PM.

The results from vgtribune’s quarter-finals are in! After tallying over 118,000 votes and over 8,000 write-in votes, they changed the top 16 to the top 18! Even better: Geno got in there! We're not done yet though! Geno is lacking in votes and is going to need ton more if we want him to hang in there. At the time of this writing he has 11% of the votes. Other have 12% or more and Walu
Smash Poll: Let's Get Geno in!
Nukeleer (https://www.deviantart.com/nukeleer) tipped me off to the Smash Poll going on right now to choose which characters people would love to see in the up-coming Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS and Wii U. They're also accepting write-in votes.
Here's the link to the poll: http://vgtribune.com/smash-poll-2012-quarterfinals/
It's our chance once again to give Geno a second shot at getting into the new game! Who knows? If we give him enough write-in notes, we might get him in!
So go on there, scroll down to the bottom, and put in:
Write-in vote: Geno (Super Mario RPG)
And that should be enough!
LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS.

On the anniversary, we should all make silly SMRPG Videos. In (good or bad) costumes. Because that would be awesome.
Yes to a new contest!
And journal entries are always good.
